Creative
Residency

Our program nurtures artists, designers, writers, makers, scholars, and activists in a ritual-centered, supportive environment. We hold space for humans to explore their one precious life on this planet through meaning-making and legacy, no matter how big or small. Our live/work space invites you to unpack, contemplate, and transcend new levels of alignment and reverence in your work. You and your creations are ever-changing and interacting, and as a person-in-process, on this wild planet, no one has the lens you do—and, that has the potential to be quite life-affirming! With this lens, you will explore ways to pair your legacy with nurturing this planet.

Contemplative, highly generative, and informed by somatic inquiry, you will explore opportunities for creative expansion and reclamation through work, rest, and play. Before arriving, you and founder Victoria will build a nest that facilitates your time here. The nest will foster your personal and creative needs at Gentle Season, which may include rituals, daily prompts, mentorship, and nature immersions. At the end of your stay, you will have the option to showcase your work in our tiny gallery space, open to the public for a day.

Gentle Season is nestled in our big backyard surrounded by trees, beautiful flora, two cuddly dogs, and a meditation garden filled with hydrangeas. A short two minute stroll will get you to historic Warren Street, Hudson’s quaint but exciting downtown sprinkled with art galleries, concept shops, foodie hot spots, antique shops, and brimming with creatives from all genres of life. A 5 minute trot from the residency will also lead you to the Hudson River, overlooking the Catskill Mountains and luscious forests.

The surrounding Hudson Valley region offers unlimited access to gorgeous trails, waterfalls, escapes into the mountains, ski resorts, hidden gems, and historic little towns that will make you swoon. If you don’t have a car, founder Victoria will happily take you on a forest bathing adventure. The train station is a quick jaunt away and can take you to New York City in 2 hours and to several charming towns along the river.

The Hudson community is close-knit, progressive, LGBTQIA+ friendly, and has a wonderful Mayor, Kamal Johnson.
